SONNY BELOW

Born in London 1967

Grown up with the blues from a baby. My earliest memory is from the age of 2 going mad in my cot for Elmore James’ 'Shake Your Money Maker'.

Father (Frank Nazareth) was a drummer and roadie with the sunflower boogie band through the 60’s and 70’s, he played behind some of the old blues guys like Whispering Smith.

Jonny Mars lived in our house for a while in the early seventies, and he’s the one who got me playing bass!

Apart from joining in on the rehearsals and jam sessions as a kid, nothing really started for me until 1989 when a friend of mine (Jon O’Brien) and I started Midnight Willie.

Played in other bands along the way like The Guzzle and Root Blues Band and Hoodoo Moon.

Played behind Jonny Mars a few times as well as backing Louisiana Red and the Excello tour with Fred James, Johnny Jones etc.

Joined Paul Lamb in 1998.
